The Tuscany Scouts will use the 2012/2013 season to prepare for the Canadian Jamboree in July 2013, which will be held in our back yard, Camp Woods in Sylvan Lake. Scout troops from all over Canada, supplemented with some international troops, will join this week long camp experience. CJ'13 will bring youth, leaders and volunteers from across the country and from around the world together for the ultimate Scouting experience. Scouts will share friendship and adventure while experiencing personal development that only a jamboree experience can bring.

Join us now and prepare for an experience you will remember for the rest of your life!

The Tuscany Scouts group has recently hidden a geocache in the community of Tuscany. GEOCACHING is a real-world outdoor treasure hunting game. Players try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using GPS-enabled devices and then share their experiences online. If you want to entice your kids for a walk in park, you can make it really fun for them by hunting and finding a geocache. Our geocache has some trinkets in it, and the idea is that you can take something out, if you put something back in to the cache. Millions of people play this game all over the world. Our cache is pretty easy to find and would provide a great introduction to this game for your family.

Click on this link, to see the coordinates of our cache, and a log of people who have found it (you have to scroll down to see who found the cache). In the first week the cache was found by 8 people! Congratulations to 2Sunbeams who was the first one to find it, just a few hours after it was published.

After weeks of building Beaver Buggies, Kub Kars and Scout Trucks, all sections of the 243 Tuscany Scout group gathered for their yearly Kub Kar Rally. The individual groups competed for the best time, and there were real trophies for the first, second and third place in each category. The winner of each category even got a huge trophy they can keep until next year's race. The final round was the "Open Category" where Venturers and Leaders got a chance to show off their creation. Thanks to Scouter Shelley for bringing this annual event to a new high!

Our Beaver Leader, Eric Collins, wrote to the editor of the Calgary Herald, and got his letter "Join Scouts" published in the Letters to the editor section of Monday April 23rd's edition. For the full story click here.

In March the Cubs spent a night in the Cequel Energy Lodge at the Calgary Zoo. They had a great time exploring the Canadian Wilds and even got to run with the Wolves at sundown (sorry no pictures since we were running so fast to get away from the wolves!!)
